LORAC PRO Palette, Review & Swatches!

Hello Beauties!

Today I have a long overdue review of the Lorac PRO palette! It is no secret that this little gem is a cult favorite in the beauty community. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say anything bad about this palette. I had debated buying it for quite some time before I finally took the plunge. I ended up purchasing this palette from Kohls using a gift card after going into Sephora one day only to find that they no longer carry the Lorac brand. Kohls must be stepping up their makeup counter game 🙂

Read on to see pictures, swatches, and my honest opinion of this classic palette!

The palette comes in a sleep black box with a generous sample of their Behind the Scenes primer.

The palette itself is very thin and sturdy with a magnetic closure. The thin structure makes is easy to store and ideal for travel. The only downside is that the black, almost velvety, material shows dirt very easily (similar to NARS packaging).

I am extremely impressed with this eyeshadow primer. I like it even better than the Urban Decay primer potion, although that one is also pretty great! With this, a little goes a long way and makes the eyeshadows bullet proof! I was happy to see this included with the palette.

The palette comes with a nice sized mirror inside and a plastic protective covering over the shadows. The shadows make good use of the space as there is not much room between each color and they are laid out in a nice and neat rectangle shape. I like that this palette doesn’t waste any space or have unnecessary parts of the packaging like some other palettes I have seen. Also, the names are straightforward and descriptive, which is kind of boring, but fits the simple PRO theme.

The top row of shadows are all matte shades while the bottom row of shadows are all shimmers. All of the shadows have insanely good pigmentation and excellent bendability. Even the matte shadows are smooth and silky. The palette contains a good range of colors including basic necessities such as a matte brow bone highlight (White or Cream), light shimmer highlight (Nude or Champagne), matte crease transition shade (Taupe or Mauve), and two matte shadows perfect for liner or a dark smoky look(Black or Espresso). It also contains a few pops of colors with the Deep Purple, Garnet, and Slate shadows. The more neutral colors do not disappoint either with unique shades such as the Lt Pink and Pewter. Lt Bronze is one I use quite a bit on the inner portion of my lid and can be combined with most of the other colors. I also love the Gold shadow in this palette as it is super pigmented, unique, and absolutely gorgeous!

If I must point out any slight downfalls of this palette, they would be that the White and Cream colors are not as pigmented as the rest, the Champagne shadow has a tiny bit of glitter fallout, and the Deep Purple looks more black than purple. Besides those minor flaws I think this palette is a winner!

The palette contains a perfect balance of light and dark shades on each end of the spectrum. The middle of the palette contains great mid tone shades allowing the color range to transition from light to dark perfectly.

Swatches

The colors are swatched in order of the way the palette is laid out, horizontally on my arm. The pictures are all of the same arm swatches. It should be easy to tell which colors are which by referencing the palette next to each picture.

Overall Impression and Thoughts

I freaking LOVE this palette! Seriously. This is hands down one of the best palettes I now own comparable only to my trusty Urban Decay original NAKED palette. However, this one may even have the NAKED palette beat, dare I say! The reason why is because of the PRO palette’s versatility, color range, and variety of the high quality buttery smooth and pigmented shadows. I find myself reaching for this palette over ad over again weather I am in the mood for a simple and neutral day time look or if I am going out and want an intense bold and smoky eye. Plus it is good for everything in between. Also, for you matte shadow lovers out there, this palette has some great options while still containing some much needed shimmer! I am hesitant to purchase an all matte eyeshadow palette because I tend to like a hint of shimmer while I rarely create a look without at least one or two matte shades- so, this palette is perfect for me! If you are anything like me, this palette is for you too!

If you have been debating weather or not to purchase this palette, I can say with confidence that I can highly recommend it and am sure that most of you will fall in love with this palette too!
